Nature gives us not only many ecological services but also ecological benefits of inestimable value. Through various projects, CPAWS Quebec wishes to restore the vital and necessary link between humans and nature!
Contact with nature is essential for our well-being and our physical and mental health. In Japan, its benefits are recognized by the state, and forest baths, called shirin-yoku, are prescribed for stress reduction. Moreover, recent epidemiological studies show that proximity to accessible natural environments improves citizens’ physical and mental health.
Natural spaces and urban parks also promote social cohesion by providing spaces that facilitate meeting, integrating and social exchange.
Protecting land and biodiversity on a larger scale has created an important forum for furthering reconciliation with indigenous peoples. CPAWS Quebec has initiated several events aimed at reconnecting people with nature and raising awareness of the importance of protecting our natural environments.
