Louis Saint-Hilaire

Louis Saint-Hilaire

Now retired, Louis worked in the management of the National Bank Financial as Senior Vice President and member of the executive. Concerned about the recent advances of the mining industry in his region of Outaouais as well as throughout southern Quebec, he first got involved with his local lake protection association and then founded the Coalition for the Protection of Lakes in Petite-Nation. This organization has become an important player in the mobilization movement against the mining industry's precedence over land use planning.

To make the movement national, he recently co-founded the QLAIM Coalition. It now includes more than 125 lake associations mobilized against the outdated laws governing the mining industry's impact on land preservation. Louis also serves on the coordinating committee of the Better Mining Quebec Coalition. He joined the board of directors of SNAP Quebec in June 2023.
