Chevalier cuivré

LES CHEVALIERS CUIVRÉS

Les Chevaliers Cuivrés present "On n'est pas sortis du bois" ("We're Not Out of the Woods")

Today, as calls to protect nature are drowned in the fanfare surrounding major industrial projects, SNAP Québec is betting on melodies and poetry! How can we make ourselves heard and bring people together more effectively? Should we shout louder, or try to find new tones? At SNAP Québec, we’ve chosen to unite our voices and sing!

This first song, created by natural and human intelligence, takes the form of a rallying cry: the forest is a public treasure where a thousand faces and a thousand uses come together.

“The forest for everyone! Everyone for the forest! For you, for me, for the whole gang—from cities, villages, and the countryside!”

Les chevaliers cuivrés, a name that unites us all

Les chevaliers cuivrés is a creative collective made up of colleagues, friends, and allies, destined to grow and evolve in response to new creations and inspirations.

The copper redhorse (chevalier cuivré in French) is a remarkable fish that, with its humble armour, stands against the destruction of the St. Lawrence and Richelieu rivers and the relentless pursuit of endless growth.

Found only in Quebec, it represents a distinct society that refuses to give up. Beyond that, it serves as a biological indicator. Its recovery, which will only be possible through strong collective action, will reflect how much our society truly values the environment and its willingness to protect nature. Its significance extends far beyond the survival of its species: it has become a national symbol for everyone who chooses to stand up for the future.
